The Jeff Birk Experience

A Stand-Up Comic’s Approach to Public Speaking
The last thing you want to see is a presentation that looks like it’s been given the same way to a hundred different companies.

That’s why I will work with you previous to any session in getting as much info, background, and context behind you or your group’s specific needs and expectations.

B2B, B2C, Sales, Marketing, Leadership, or a mixed audience, you can look forward to a message which is spot on, interactive, and entertaining.

Keynotes & Workshops

  • We’ve all been there: “Ugh, what a boring presentation.”

    “Wow. That speaker was terrible.”

“Sheesh. I could have spent that hour flossing my cat”.

This is the sad state of most public speeches. Of course it’s bad for you, but it’s also bad for business.

How about we make sure none of those things above are said about you? Attention spans are short these days. We want our information to be quick, engaging, and impactful. Throw in some humor along the way and we’re hooked. A dull presenter and a mind-numbing speech just isn’t going to cut it.

Drawing from my 30+ years as a stand-up comedian and corporate trainer, I share the methods, skills and techniques required to kill it on any public speaking stage and put your audience on their feet instead of to sleep.

    Audiences will learn:

➡️ Humor techniques you can apply instantly to a variety of public speaking needs and settings.

➡️ How to capture your audience in your first couple minutes.

➡️ Memorization strategies to help avoid freezing on stage.

➡️ Storytelling methods which move hearts as well as create laughter.

➡️ How to calm your nerves and instill more confidence.

➡️ Starting strong and ending strong with proper timing and delivery.

    Suggested timeframe: 30min to 2hr

  • Out of 206 bones in the human body, your funny bone better be one of them, and it always is for great speakers and content creators. Presentations that stick always have a bit of humor, jokes, and laughter along the way. Your message becomes memorable, actionable, and relevant. Best of all, you stand out from other run-of-the-mill speakers. In this session, I’ll teach you how humor can be used to enhance your content, give you more credibility (and confidence), and leave your crowd wanting more. Audiences will learn:

➡️ A variety of joke structures and how to utilize them in your content.

➡️ Examples from social media, youtube, and other sources to show you what good looks like.

➡️ The key to your success: practicing timing and delivery.

    Suggested timeframe: 1hr

  • The workshop of workshops for your public speaking prowess! Ideal for sales, marketing, and training teams. It’s more than learning how to be funnier. It’s about communicating and persuading. Body language, verbal pausing, pitch, and pacing. Handling bored, busy, or booing attendees. How to practice and enjoy it. Storytelling that sells. And the list goes on and on. I throw the kitchen sink into this session based on how much time you choose and intel I gather about your situation. Audiences will get:

➡️ Amplified and extended content from my keynote sessions and my book “Train Like a Rockstar: Speaking Tips from a Stand-Up Comedian.”

➡️ Customized training based on pre-event needs assessment about you and your group.

➡️ Live practice walk throughs and role playing with attendees to solidify learnings.

    Suggested timeframe: 2hr to 4hr

One-on-One Coaching

Sometimes it’s just nice to have some one-on-one time. Maybe you aren’t part of a group who needs training.

You just need a coach and mentor to take a look at where you’re at, what you’ve got, and provide some targeted help just for you. Whether it’s your nerves, your delivery, or writing some humor into your content, I can help you like I’ve helped many others.

My approach is simple: teach and verify.

I’ll teach you the skills you seek but verify your adoption of those skills with homework assignments and practice sessions. I’m committed to and capable of helping you get to where you want to be in your public speaking, whether that’s a sales demo, script writing, or traditional presenting in a classroom or on a stage.
