The power of a compliment

Leno knew the power of a compliment.

I just finished a 20-min set warming up a crowd for him of 2000+ to a standing ovation.

He grabbed me right when I got offstage before he went on. "Man," he said, "That was great! Do you know how many times I have to follow someone who crashes and burns and kills the crowd? Then I have to win them back. You really did a great job."

Don't forget to compliment the people you work with. I'll never forget that moment and that night. I'll also never forget not asking him if I could be on The Tonight Show. 😫
